Welcome

Update: We will have new information regarding the 2020 season and Covid after 11 May. Stay tuned and fingers crossed! Read WRFL's latest on Covid-19.

Welcome to the home of the Williamstown Juniors Football Club. We are a family club run by volunteers and a committee, with strong community culture and respectful values. We have mixed U9, U10, U12, U14 and U16s. There's a strong girls junior and youth stream too.

Our clubrooms and the footy grounds are getting a revamp in 2020 to meet community demands, growth and progress. It's part of a whole precinct upgrade for the local school, football, netball and cricket clubs in colabration with local council, sporting clubs and education department. This will hopefully be finish by July 2020.

Metro Community Football Statement

14 May 2020

On the back of the State Government announcement around easing some restrictions, the eight metropolitan leagues met with AFL Victoria yesterday.

The current position around training is that no sanctioned training should take place until “return to training” protocols are established, put in place and accepted by leagues, clubs and local council alike.

AFL Victoria is establishing these protocols and we hope to have these in the near future.

A number of considerations around health and safety protocols and insurance need to be worked through prior to training being sanctioned.

What that means for all WJFC Players, Parents and Coaches is:

  • under no circumstance is there to be coach or club directed training
  • the online home training currently being directed by some coaches is fine to continue at home
  • The government announcement regarding 10 people training outdoors does not cover AFL community sporting clubs

We ask that all members of WJFC follow the guidelines being communicated and if further clarification is needed please don't hesitate to make contact with the club via email or please feel free to post questions in comments.

Sending our best to you and keeping our thoughts positive and hopeful for a footy season in 2020.

Not quite the news we were looking for – we just need to sit this out a little longer..Best, Mel McVeigh-WJFC Chairman

’On the back of today’s State Government announcement around easing some restrictions, AFL Victoria’s position around training is that no sanctioned training should take place until further notice.

AFL Victoria will seek clarity from the State Government around what today’s announcement means for community football and be in contact in due course.

A number of considerations around health and safety protocols and insurance need to be worked through prior to any training being sanctioned.

AFL Victoria will provide a return to play protocol for community leagues and clubs once it is approved by the State Government.

As soon as I have more information I’ll be in touch.’
